confirmation. with me now steve clemens, editor at large for "atlantic" and has written things in support of hagel's nomination to the defense department and dan seymour and foreign policy adviser. gentlemen, welcome to you both. i couldn't think of two better people to do this and you both agreed. so, thank you. dan, i want to start with you, but i want to lay out this issue on israel and iran and i want to put up, we put together a few charts. sort of fuel for supporters and opponents when it comes to hagel and iran and israel. voted against iran/libya sanks in 2001 and blocked sanctions bills in 2008. he was in support of key nonproliferation bills having to do with sanctioning iran on nuclear weapons. as for israel, he didn't sign some letters of support of israel in the past. anti-hamas bill and voted for aid for israel as a senator. dan, why would you look at this record and say it's decidedly mixed for somebody who want somebody in there who wants nothing but always on the side of whatever israel wants the united states to do, he certainly is not a full fledged opponent of israel,

does the law allow? and steve hays here about the possible political fallout of him doing this as an end around congress. we'll talk about moments away. obviously, it's going to be an important discussion. an update now to the school shooting in southern california that we told you about earlier in the hour. we've got new video from the scene as authorities say one student was shot and injured. now, that student has been flown to a hospital in bakersfield, so now we've been updated and earlier we were told it was two students, or two people shot and now they're saying it was a student and it was one student. we don't have any word on that student's condition. we're told the suspect is in custody. a sheriff's department spokesman says that person is also believed to be a student. the shooting happened at taft union high school, local reporters say people inside the school hid in closets during the attack. oh. and from georgia, we are getting some dramatic 911 tapes in a frightening home invasion making headlines in the middle this have week's and last week's gun debate. cap

. steve king introduced a bill in 2011 to clarify, in his words, the 14th amendment. the amendment grants citizenship to anyone born -- it was written after the civil war for african-americans obviously. well, king argued it was not meant to include babies of illegal immigrants. take a look. >> anchor babies are babies that are born in the united states to an illegal mother, and the practice over the years has been to grant automatic citizenship to babies born on u.s. soil. they sneak into the united states, many of them, for the purposes of having the baby. they get the little birth certificate with their little feet prints on there, and then they stay here or go back to their home country and wait until that child comes of age, and then that child, they use that child to apply to bring in the family, the nuclear family, then the extended family. and it's out of control. >> you might expect something like that from the man who questioned whether barack obama's mom might have sent his birth announcement by telegram from kenya. king is at it again with anchor babies. introduced a new bill
